Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the need for predictive models to anticipate clinical outcomes in infected patients. Traditional data-sharing methods are often hindered by privacy concerns and regulatory constraints. This study employs federated learning, a decentralized machine learning approach, to develop predictive models for clinical outcomes in COVID-19 patients across multiple institutions without the necessity of data sharing. The federated model demonstrated improved performance over models trained on individual institutional data, highlighting the potential of federated learning to enhance predictive modeling in healthcare while maintaining patient data privacy.
