Utilizing Disparate, Diverse Datasets Via Federated Learning
The Machine Learning for Industry Forum (ML4I) 2021, held virtually from August 10 to 12, was organized by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The forum aimed to foster the adoption of machine learning (ML) methods for practical industrial outcomes, emphasizing manufacturing. It featured keynote speeches from industry leaders, including Devesh Upadhyay of Ford Motor Company, who discussed ML approaches in vehicle design and manufacturing, and Pamela Isom, director of the DOE’s Artificial Intelligence Technology Office, who highlighted the importance of AI/ML trustworthiness and risk management. The event facilitated robust dialogues between industry, research institutions, vendors, and academia, strengthening the technology transfer of ML methods to industrial needs.
