As 2024 draws to a close and many prepare to take a well-earned break, we at Rhino Health reflect on an impactful year. This has been a year of significant milestones, as we’ve advanced our mission to help clients and partners eliminate data silos through the transformative power of Federated Computing.

Here are some highlights worth celebrating:

We expanded the realm of possible using Federated Computing

We strengthened our partnerships with global tech leaders

  • Google Cloud: Rhino and Google have joined forces to bring Federated Computing solutions to Google customers across industries, powered by integrations with GCP's advanced offerings, such as Confidential Computing. You can see more examples in our joint webinar showcasing the Rhino FCP’s capabilities across healthcare and life sciences or via the NIH STRIDES marketplace.
  • NVIDIA: Rhino formalized our partnership with NVIDIA to deliver NVIDIA's AI Enterprise and other AI software via Rhino's federated architecture to clients across industries.

We’ve helped our partners form global networks

Besides adding dozens of new sites to our network, we have signed strategic collaboration agreements with partners who endeavor to transform their respective partner bases into federated networks. Among them are:

  • Medinexo: Medinexo provides digital health solutions for provider organizations and diverse data for therapeutic development to sponsors. Over 400 clinical trial sites and hospitals are now able to collaborate with life sciences companies while upholding stringent regulatory standards and maintaining data sovereignty.
  • International Consortium of Health Outcome Measurement (ICHOM): Rhino powers a global network of experts sharing best practices to enhance clinical pathways, equity, and shared decision-making regarding the majority of global burden of disease. Now, with the added benefit of analyzing patient pathways and creating benchmarks in a privacy-preserving way.

We continued supporting bleeding-edge science

Rhino remains true to its researcher partners, and continues to support important scientific collaborations. Among them are:

  • AICT NetZero: Development of AI-powered 'Digital Contrast' technology for CT scans, improving patient safety while reducing the environmental impact of medical imaging.
  • Cross-Atlantic AI Collaboration: Collaboration among Emory University, Assuta Medical Center, and the I-Medata AI Center in Tel Aviv to develop and validate advanced breast cancer diagnostics.
  • Rare Disease Diagnosis: Researchers at the University of Cambridge are leveraging Rhino FCP to develop Federated Learning models for diagnosing rare diseases securely across multiple institutions.

The Rhino team also had the privilege to share insights at several key events, including:

  • FDA’s AIRIS 2024 (jointly hosted with Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety)
  • ICHOM’s Annual Conference
  • Google’s Cancer AI Symposium and Public Sector Summit
  • NVIDIA’s FLARE Day
  • Sheba Medical Center’s Annual ARC Summit
  • NCI’s Cancer Biomarkers AI and Bioinformatics Workshop

We received several awards

We’re honored to receive the following recognition this year:

  • Digital Health Hub Rising Star Award for Health Equity
  • Showcase Award of Excellence (Endeavor Venture Fund and Mount Sinai)
  • Products That Count Award (for the second consecutive year)
  • Inclusion in the Ethical AI Database

Lastly, we continued to evolve the Rhino FCP to support more use cases

In 2024, we introduced critical updates to Rhino FCP to enhance value, usability, and data security. Among many released features, here are a few recent highlights:

  • Harmonization Copilot: A Generative AI-powered tool for seamless data mapping to FHIR, OMOP, or custom models.
  • Enhanced Privacy: Project-level permissions for model weights and advanced federated metrics like rank-based statistics.
  • Infrastructure Expansion: Deployment of an EU-based orchestration layer and improved client-mounted storage to meet data residency and accessibility needs.
